Construction of Housihe Pumped Storage Power Station in Gongyi, Henan Province started
On March 26, 2025, the mobilization meeting for the construction of Housihe Pumped Storage Power Station in Gongyi, Henan Province was held grandly, marking that the project has fully entered the construction and implementation stage.
The Housihe Pumped Storage Power Station in Gongyi, Henan Province is a key implementation project of the "14th Five-Year Plan" of the National Energy Administration's "Medium- and Long-Term Development Plan for Pumped Storage (2021-2035)". The total installed capacity of the power station is 1.2 million kilowatts, with a total investment of about 8.264 billion yuan and a designed annual power generation of about 1.559 billion kilowatt-hours. It is expected that the first unit will be put into operation in 2030 and all units will be put into operation in 2031.
The power station was surveyed and designed by the Central South Institute, and the Fifth Hydropower Bureau undertook the supplementary geological exploration project of the power station. The construction content mainly includes exploration flat tunnels, tail adjustment ventilation tunnels, ventilation and safety tunnel opening (expansion) excavation and support.
After the power station is completed and put into operation, it will mainly undertake tasks such as peak regulation, valley filling, energy storage, frequency regulation, phase regulation, and emergency backup for the Henan power grid. It is expected to save 403,000 tons of standard coal consumption and reduce annual carbon dioxide emissions by 1.056 million tons, which will provide important support for promoting high-quality economic development in the region.
